Robert Morris, 63, who founded Gateway Church in Southlake, is charged with five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child, the attorney general’s office said in a statement. The abuse began in December 1982 when Morris was visiting the Hominy, Oklahoma, home of the victim, the attorney general’s office alleged. He was 21 and she was 12 at the time.
According to https://juicyecumenism.com/2025/06/30/colorado-pastor-brady-boyd/ Moris worked as a faith advisor to Donald Trump. Brady Boyd claims to have known of Moris’ moral problems, claiming to be unaware of his illegal activities in the past, while other board members of the megachurch where knowledgeable of the issues.
In 2017, Morris worked with Texas Governor Greg Abbott in supporting the unsuccessful Texas “bathroom bill” which was aimed toward requiring transgender people to use restrooms corresponding with their “biological sex.”[13] In May 2022, during a Sunday service, Morris displayed to his congregation a list of church members who were candidates in local elections across North Texas. All of them on the ballot for school board elections were running on anti-critical race theory platforms and Morris stressed his concern over pornographic material in schools. Pricilla Aguirre, with MySA, described Morris as having “mixed politics with religion.”[14][15]
Commentary
Very common issues here. We have a pastor who used his position, power and wealth to work with state leadership to attempt morality law to restrict transgender people, yet has been charged with lewd acts witch children. People are afraid of the immigrant, the transgender, but quite often the real problem is hidden in plain sight.
The case has become a repeated political commentary. Right-wing pastors, with conservative moral agendas, become outed time and time again for child sexual abuse. More is covered below:
