Brett Jarad Monroe

Brett Jarad Monroe, 39, former associate pastor at Heritage Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, pleaded guilty in January to one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

HSI special agents executed a search warrant at Monroe’s residence Dec. 11, 2019. Monroe admitted to agents that he used his cellphone to create secret recordings of a minor female victim while she showered at his Arlington home. According to court documents, Monroe converted the video into still images that he saved in an online storage account. From their website, this is the motto of belief which aligns with standard Baptist belief.

Commentary

In our view, this is the problem. The Christian view, as seen above, is to 1) admit you are a sinner 2) as for forgiveness 3) believe in Jesus and trust in him 4) Become a child of god by receiving salvation 5) confess Jesus is god. At no point does it require making amends.

Christianity is a great faith if you want to live guilt free, but for the rest of us who have to put up with abuse, it’s a real problem. There’s no mention or emphasis on “doing good,” because these denominations focus on “not saved by works but by faith.” With faith alone, you just have people who return again and again to the suffering they cause others.
