Mustain was the associate pastor at Valley Ranch Baptist Church in Coppell, Texas. He has also had a role as a community paster at Preston Trail Community Church in Firsco.

Jim Dale Mustain was arrested and put in Denton County Jail on charges of four counts of possession and promoting lewd material depicting children. The offense took place in 2024.
